About Monique Chelin
Long before Enzo bounced into her life, Monique Chelin had already built a career around the idea that the choices we make today shape the world we leave behind. A qualified company director and the founder of an international sustainability consultancy, MJC Sustainability, she has spent more than fifteen years advising organisations across four continents on how to operate more responsibly, from large scale mining operations in Africa to renewable energy planning in the Middle East.
It was that same instinct, caring for what matters and protecting what cannot protect itself, that drew Monique to animal welfare. When Enzo, a tiny, impossibly fluffy puppy, arrived in her home and immediately set about befriending every creature in the neighbourhood, she recognised a story worth telling. His joyful, open hearted approach to the world reminded her that the simplest lessons are often the most powerful: be kind, look beyond differences, and never underestimate the courage it takes to make a new friend.
Enzo Finds His Friends grew from those real moments of watching her puppy discover that companionship has no prerequisites. Every page is rooted in something Enzo actually did, approaching animals ten times his size, playing with birds he could never catch, and curling up beside anyone who would have him. Monique paired those adventures with watercolour illustrations and gentle rhyming verse to create a read aloud experience that parents and children could share together.
Donating every cent of profit to the RSPCA was never an afterthought; it was the point. Monique has long channelled her professional life into causes larger than herself. She has served as an Ambassador for Opportunity International Australia since 2010, supporting microfinance programs that help families build a path out of poverty. With Enzo’s book, she wanted to extend that commitment to the animals who bring so much joy yet often have no voice of their own.
When she is not writing or working, you will usually find Monique and Enzo exploring the outdoors together, proving daily that the best friendships really do come in all shapes and sizes.
